Today I wanted to write about "Serenity" from the "Solace" album.  A number of the music from the "Solace" album has stemmed in instrumentation where two instruments are virtually conversing with or longing for the other.  "Serenity" was composed during some of the lowest times of my life.  There are so many different challenges that are faced today along with music that people try to relate to.  One of my goals has been to give a feeling of "Serenity".

"Motive" from the album "In Motion"

Motive

Hi Everyone!


Today I wanted to write about "Motive" from the "In Motion" album. "Motive" was another great melody that came from the shelf of my ideas. It started with a whole different style of drum idea originally.  It had more of a native drum sound, that was just hard to let go.  I may revisit those drums one day in something else.  I still wanted to keep the authenticity of the music and not compromise it.  Which I think gives it that genuine feel to get you going.  It just didn't seem to have enough of what I was looking for.  It took me a long time to finally have it play out the way I intended. I just needed the right "Motive".

"Simplicity" from the album "Solace"

Simplicity

Hi Everyone!


Today I wanted to write about "Simplicity" from the "Solace" album. When I started with "Simplicity" it was not exactly all that simple. I believe as most things we all seem to do is make things more complicated then they really need to be. It started out to be just a melody as music always needs to be and became more complicated then necessary. What really needed to happen was to make the piano the center of it all with an orchestra to back it up. As music continues to come, it was difficult to not want to keep adding more music to this piece. It is the reason to make and keep "Simplicity" simple.

Hi Everyone!


Today I wanted to write about "Expressions" from the "In Motion" album. I was one of several asked to write a piece for an American Express commercial. That was the initial idea, then it developed into more of a music piece than a jingle. If it had been selected as a jingle you wouldn't be hearing it on my album. I really enjoyed making this into what I think it was supposed to be, more of an expression than just a jingle. I felt like it was more of a composition than a commercial that no one would even remember today.

"Rescue Me" from the album "Solace"

Rescue Me

Hi Everyone!


Today I wanted to write about "Rescue Me" from the "Solace" album. I originally had the idea of making the music more intense, but instead made it more of a romantic piece. Instead I decided to write it to be a dual between the piano and the guitar in a way as if calling to one another. The Cello and String section tend be a director for each instrument to lean towards bringing them together at the end of the piece. There are countless pieces of music that can describe romantic situations of coming together and "Rescue Me" is no exception. The goal was to allow those listening to this music to feel a connection they can relate to.

"In Motion" from the album "In Motion"

In Motion

Hi Everyone,

Writing about "In Motion" from the "In Motion" album.

I have to say I wrote a shorter version of "In Motion" back in the college years. I had a number of class projects and composed a number of music tracks. I later put it together and made a CD single. These ended up being shelved for many years. The music ended up being used for various projects and underscore fillers. I called the album "Variations" just because it was more like experiments and concepts and made a variety of music that came from it. The one music track I worked with was "In Motion". When thinking of an new album idea, I liked the having "In Motion" for the title. I composed the music around the theme. The whole album has a lot of energy and motivation.

"Unique Place" from the album "Solace"

  Unique Place

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to write about "Unique Place" from the "Solace" album. I started that composition many years ago, around 20 years in fact. I was trying to come with a new melody with some new sounds. I got as far as a few phrases in the melody in the beginning trying to decide what needed to happen. There were times I just wanted to break the ice and try a number of melodies and see where they led. I tend to make a number of melodies and see if they fit in a certain criteria. They are never thrown away, just waiting for the right time to be developed. When I pulled it off the shelf and added the String section with the Choral, Cello and harp it helps transport you out of your everyday world taking you to a "Unique Place".

"Wild Dreams" from the album "In Motion"

Wild Dreams

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to tell you a story about "Wild Dreams" from the "In Motion" album. Some of the music I composed was started a number of years ago and "Wild Dreams" was one of them. There are a number of ways to take a theme or melody. It was a challenge to take it to a phase that had a reason to be worth listening to. I like to compose music that takes you somewhere. A lot of melodies start as a simple tune or phrase and need to give you some reason to listen to the music. This one took some time and doing for me to become happy with it, giving the tune personality. Sometimes you would think that music you start will not be worth anything, you never want to toss tunes, you may never not know what may come of it. It may just start out as "Wild Dreams".

"Random Fire" from the album "In Motion"

 Random Fire

Hi All,

I thought I would give you a small intermission, from the upcoming album and to thank you for making "Random Fire" #1 (from the "In Motion" album) for several consecutive weeks on (N1M). It originally was written for an air combat simulator game in 1994. It was a track that was not used for the game and is now available on my album single "No Limit to the Skies" (20th anniversary edition). In other words "Random Fire" was of course written for a combat scene for a series of SAM missiles hence "Random Fire". Why did I come back years later to bring this music to you? Working in the media and entertainment business also takes up your time as many of you would understand. There are more things on this album than meets the eye. Stay tuned.

Rest (Day Seven)

Eden (Day Six)

Hi Everyone,

This next phase in this album of where it began. Human existence where we came from. Not from another living organism or origin. We were brought here in a second phase to learn from our experience to know right from wrong. There is opposition in all things, for example, good and bad, light and dark.

In all the animal creations there are male and females. Humans are male and female as well. The difference with humans is that they have free will or moral agency, because it was planned that way.

Every Living Creature (Day Five)

Hi Everyone,


This next album has quite a diverse setting with light from the sun, waters, plants, seasons and to all animal life that exists.  This would include all animals and creatures in the air, land or in the sea. There are a number of significant aspects of this story of old.  There are a number of ways in which to describe this all manner of life musically.  This is of course is quite an undertaking.  The music can have an effect on you.  The idea is to look at it from a blueprint point of view in parts and sections and come together as a whole after covering the journey.  There are countless ways this can be done and several angles to present it.  Many have done such as Joseph Haydn and the creation oratorio.  I hope to describe in a interesting manor by giving you a musical outlook.

Time and Seasons (Day Four)

Hi Everyone,

The next part of this story is the organization of planets that are put into place in giving us time and the seasons.  The obvious Sun Moon and the Stars, give us contrast in our Solar System.  There are countless things that bring us a number of elements and formation of the creation of all that we know and see.  There are countless planets and galaxies that are in their own place to study and for us to understand, all part of a greater plan.  How do you feel when you are out under a beautiful starry sky? Do you find yourself wondering, where do I fit into this vast realm?  My thoughts are that in this grand design, there is a place for you and me.

Shrubbery, Trees (Day Three)

Hi All,

Day three, Is another depiction of more of what is coming next. I am looking to depict the landscape musically adding light and color. What would you imagine the sounds of the trees or thinking about to yourself when considering the magnitude of plants and shrubbery growing about you? Land and Water Divided (Day Two)

Hi Everyone,

    Thank you for all your great comments and sharing my music, More great questions on what is coming.  I hope this helps to answer some of them. and that this project portrays your imagination to take you there.

    The next picture here is to give you another look or idea of what to expect with the with new upcoming album. It has to do with the masses around us and the things we see and experience.  My aim is to take you  musically to a setting to help you feel that environment.  One question was asked if this is going to be a cosmic album or a nature album.  My focus will be to put you in those places that are described in the title description.  I enjoy putting timelessness in my music or take you on a pleasant journey.  Hopefully this answered some of those questions.  This is more of a sample to give you some perspective of what the next album may be about. Again science without the fiction. I will keep giving additional information on this theme as we move forward and get closer to this albums completion.

Happy Valentines Day!

Hi Everyone,

As this is a time when we focus on matters of the heart, here is a Valentine’s Day story for you!

My wife found my 'Solace' album online and fell in love with it. She happened to live in my neighborhood, and we met on one cold January day. We had a lot things in common; she is a singer with a beautiful voice, and loves classical music and all things cultural. By Valentine’s Day we were dating, and things took off from there. I am her greatest fan and am glad she will always be my valentine.


I hope you get a break from your busy life to enjoy time with friends, family, and loved ones, and renew inspiration for challenges of the coming year.

We are watching 'A Charlie Brown Valentine' today. Have Fun!

Another great day for music!

    Hi everyone!

    I just hit 50,000 plays and listeners on Number One Music, I wanted thank all of you for helping me get there, keep sharing and the next thing you know we will be to 100,000. Thanks again for your great comments and questions.  Another great day for music,  I am walking into my studio to begin the day.  There are a number things to be thinking about when composing music.  It is all about the melody and just thinking about a place it takes you.  Where will it take me today?

Hopefully to have it done sometime next year. The picture is a draft of the cover. It is quite a large project. There is a lot of work and time that goes into music.
