"Sneak Attack" from the album "No Limit to the Skies"

Sneak Attack

Hi Everyone,

This week I wanted to talk about the music piece "Sneak Attack" from the "No Limit to the Skies" album.
This is final piece on this album.  This is a tiny excerpt as an idea for a military ground forces segment.  If it were a hot day or a cold dark night, how would you think of a setting to present?  Well the setting I imagined was to be a little bit on the eerie side.  Many of us have seen spy or combat movies or read books about action or military scenarios.  Even though “Sneak Attack” is relatively short, it was to give a little suspense as if you were walking through dangerous terrain or jungle or someplace intense.   If you listened to the “Close Surveillance” (original concept) from the album “No Limit to the Skies” it is more of a builder of suspense with more of an abrupt ending.  Or with the later version on the “In Motion” album, which has a little bit of a different setting with more of a victory with its approach.  To conclude this album, it was a subtle way to leave you wanting more with a “Sneak Attack”.

More things to think about. In the meantime if you haven't listened to my other albums, feel free to share any of following links below:

"Random Fire" from the album "No Limit to the Skies"

Random Fire

Hi Everyone,

This week I wanted to talk about the music piece "Random Fire" from the "No Limit to the Skies" album. This is the original concept of “Random Fire”.  This was written for a scene for the Virtual Reality air combat simulation game back in the mid 1990’s.  The piece describes being chased by SAM rocket missiles (Surface to Air Missiles).  When trying to avoid ground fire, you of course try not to get shot down from these.  As you listen to the piece, you can hear as if missiles were chasing your jet aircraft trying to avoid being hit were described in the music itself.  The piece is relatively short for being in the scenario or situation on the game.  I rewrote and extended it to a longer version which was later released in 2014 on the “In Motion” album.

More things to think about.  In the meantime if you haven't listened to my other albums, feel free to share any of following links below:

"Pulses" from the album "Variations"

Pulses

This week I wanted to talk about the music piece "Pulses" from the "Variations" album.
This was an addition to the original layout on the "Variations" album.  There was a reprise of "Moving Forward Triumphant" which I thought was a bit redundant. The reprise was for a film short I did back in my college days.  It worked for the film quite nicely and it seemed to give me the grade I was going for.  Being a short album, it didn't seem fair to finish with more of the same thing.  I was experimenting with some new instruments and technology at the time.  With the title of this album it seemed to be the right place for this piece.  I figured "Pulses" was a good way to conclude this album.
